# ERE via your energy supplier or an independent provider: which pays more?

Getting ERE via your energy supplier is convenient but not always better value: deductions range from 10% to 25%, and some deals end when you switch.

[By the ERE Team](https://erevergelijken.eu/en/about/) · Last checked September 24, 2026 · 7 min read

In short

- Neither pays more by definition: supplier deductions range from 10% to 25%, while independent providers typically charge between 12% and 25%.
- At 3,000 kWh a year and €0.460 per ERE, you net €344 to €413, before any mandatory subscription costs.
- The real difference is in the conditions: some suppliers require an energy contract or extra subscription, or end the deal when you switch.
- If you switch energy supplier regularly, an ERE deal that is separate from your energy contract is safer.

Neither pays more by definition. On 23 September 2026, deductions at energy suppliers range from 10% (Tibber, via Joulo) to 25% (Vattenfall), while independent ERE providers typically charge between 12% and 25%. The real difference lies in the conditions: with some suppliers you must be an energy customer, you need an extra subscription, or your ERE deal ends as soon as you switch energy contract.

## Which energy suppliers offer an ERE reward?

We checked thirteen energy suppliers and two charge-point platforms. We found a live programme with public terms at Vattenfall (since 23 February 2026, by its own account as the first energy supplier), Zonneplan and Tibber (since July 2026). The charge-point platforms 50five and Laadnet offer ERE for charge points on their own platform. Essent and Eneco eMobility are preparing a programme.

| Supplier or platform | Model | Payout | Conditions |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Vattenfall](https://erevergelijken.eu/en/providers/vattenfall/) (Thuislaadcashback) | 25% deducted; minimum of €0.05 per kWh guaranteed for 2026 | Annually, around June of the following year | Vattenfall electricity contract, charging subscription (€6.95 a month), Autel MaxiCharger, Vattenfall Energie app |
| Zonneplan (ERE charging bonus, with Lekkerladen) | 80% to you, 20% for Zonneplan and Lekkerladen | Credited to your energy bill; the website says quarterly or annually, the ERE terms of 15 September 2026 once a year | Zonneplan Energie customer; charge point with MID meter |
| Tibber (via Joulo) | 10% service fee instead of the standard 20% | Quarterly, via Joulo | Tibber energy contract; MID charge point linked via the Tibber app |
| Frank Energie (via Joulo) | At most 10% service fee according to Joulo; partnership confirmed by Frank (16 September 2026) | Quarterly, via Joulo | Frank Energie customer |
| [50five](https://erevergelijken.eu/en/providers/50five/) | 23% (1 year), 21% (2 years) or 19% (3 years) | Annually, after the calendar year ends | Charge point must already be on the 50five platform; mandate of 1 to 3 years |
| [Laadnet](https://erevergelijken.eu/en/providers/laadnet/) (with Joulo) | 20% | 2026 proceeds in Q1 2027, quarterly thereafter | Charge point connected to the Laadnet back office; at least 12 months, then until 31 December of that year (up to about 2 years), then renewed automatically per calendar year |
| Essent | Not yet known | Not yet known | Essent charge point required, no Essent energy contract; sign-up not yet possible |
| Eneco eMobility | Not yet known | Calculated per calendar year | Pre-registration only; no current consumer terms found |

*Checked on 23 September 2026 against each party’s public terms (see sources). Terms may change at any time.*

Frank Energie confirmed the Joulo partnership in its own news post of 16 September 2026, with quarterly payouts. The rate of at most 10% appears only on Joulo’s website; Frank itself names no percentage.

At Budget Thuis (formerly Budget Energie), Engie, ANWB Energie, Greenchoice, Pure Energie, Vandebron and Coolblue Energie we found no programme of their own. Joulo does offer customers of some of them a lower fee than its standard 20%: 18% for Greenchoice and 19% for Coolblue Energie, Vandebron and Pure Energie. These discounts appear on Joulo’s website; we found no confirmation from the suppliers themselves.

## Who handles your ERE if you go via your supplier?

Not always the supplier itself. Zonneplan works with [Lekkerladen](https://erevergelijken.eu/en/providers/lekkerladen/), Tibber and Frank Energie with [Joulo](https://erevergelijken.eu/en/providers/joulo/), and Laadnet also processes via Joulo. Vattenfall, Essent, Eneco eMobility, 50five and Laadnet are themselves on the NEa’s list of [registration service providers](https://erevergelijken.eu/en/knowledge-base/nea-rev-inboekdienstverlener-rollen/) published on 7 August 2026.

So a supplier deal is often an independent provider with a discount or bundle around it. That need not be a drawback, but you can often choose the same party directly, separate from your energy contract.

## Do you have to be a customer to take part?

For the three live supplier programmes, yes. Vattenfall sets the most conditions: a Vattenfall electricity contract, a charging subscription of €6.95 a month (including VAT) and, for now, an Autel MaxiCharger; Vattenfall expects to support the Alfen Eve later in 2026. Zonneplan and Tibber require an energy contract and a charge point with a built-in MID meter, linked via their own app. At Zonneplan, its own Charge 3 works, while the older Charge 1 and 2 do not.

Essent differs: its ERE page says you need an Essent charge point but no Essent energy contract, and it will cover all of 2026 retroactively. 50five and Laadnet don’t require an energy contract with them either, but only work for charge points already on their platform or back office.

An independent provider works with any energy supplier, as long as your charge point has an integrated, MID-certified meter and its data can be read reliably.

## What happens to your ERE if you switch energy supplier?

This is the biggest, and most overlooked, difference.

- **Vattenfall:** according to the terms, Thuislaadcashback stops automatically on the day your energy contract or charging subscription ends, and you receive no cashback for that year. Switch in October and you also lose the proceeds from the months before. The authorisation runs until 31 December of the year you sign up, is not renewed automatically and has a notice period of one month.
- **Tibber:** your registration with Joulo continues, but the 10% rate lapses and you revert to the standard rate. According to Tibber, such a change takes effect from the next calendar year, because you have one ERE provider per calendar year.
- **Frank Energie:** according to Joulo, the normal Joulo rate applies again after you leave.
- **Zonneplan:** the ERE pages say nothing about leaving (**not confirmed**). Because the bonus is credited to your energy bill, ask in advance how any outstanding amount is paid out if you switch.
- **50five and Laadnet:** here the deal is tied to your charge-point platform, not your energy contract. 50five works with a mandate of 1, 2 or 3 years; what happens if you leave early is not covered in its public explanation. Laadnet applies a minimum term of 12 months, after which the contract runs until 31 December of that year; it then renews per calendar year, and Laadnet requires written notice at least one month before the year ends.

If you regularly switch to the cheapest supplier, an ERE deal that is separate from your energy contract is safer. See also [how to switch without double registration](https://erevergelijken.eu/en/knowledge-base/ere-aanbieder-overstappen-stappenplan/) and [which contract clauses to check](https://erevergelijken.eu/en/knowledge-base/ere-contract-voorwaarden/).

## What do you net: supplier or independent provider?

We use the median of named sources: €0.460 per ERE (as of 18 October 2026, see [ERE price](https://erevergelijken.eu/en/ere-price/)). With the [statutory factor of 0.33269 ERE per kWh](https://erevergelijken.eu/en/knowledge-base/ere-berekenen-per-kwh/), that is roughly €0.153 gross per kWh, or €459 gross at 3,000 kWh a year (998.07 EREs × €0.460 = €459.12).

| Programme | Deduction | Net at 3,000 kWh |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Tibber or Frank Energie (via Joulo) | 10% | €413 |
| Zonneplan, Laadnet or Joulo standard | 20% | €367 |
| 50five (1-year contract) | 23% | €354 |
| Vattenfall | 25% (minimum €0.05 per kWh) | €344 |
| Independent providers | 12% to 25% | €344 to €404 |

At Vattenfall, the mandatory charging subscription of €6.95 a month (€83.40 a year) comes on top. If you already use it for other features, it doesn’t belong entirely in your ERE sum; if you take it only for the cashback, it does. A lower percentage isn’t the whole story either: [gross and net can drift further apart](https://erevergelijken.eu/en/knowledge-base/bruto-versus-netto-ere-opbrengst/) through extra costs or reserves.

For your own annual volume, use the [earnings calculator](https://erevergelijken.eu/en/earnings-calculator/) or the [comparison](https://erevergelijken.eu/en/compare/). These use the same weekly-updated median of named sources as the table above.

## What is a guaranteed minimum worth?

Among the energy suppliers, only Vattenfall offers a price floor: at least €0.05 per home-charged kWh, stated for 2026 only. With a 25% deduction, it only kicks in below roughly €0.20 per ERE. Named sources currently range from €0.36 to €0.505 per ERE, so at the median of €0.460 you get about €0.115 per kWh and the floor plays no role. It is mainly insurance against a price drop, paid for indirectly through the higher deduction.

## How quickly are you paid, and what data do you share?

Timing varies widely. Vattenfall pays 2026 in one go around June 2027; Laadnet (Q1 2027) and 50five (after the calendar year) also pay 2026 only next year. Zonneplan expects its first bill credit around September 2026; Tibber and Frank customers are paid quarterly via Joulo.

With a supplier or platform, your charging data often already runs through its back office. That saves integrations, but one company then knows both your electricity use and your charging behaviour. Vattenfall’s terms say it shares the data with the NEa for verification and keeps it for up to 24 months after the authorisation ends. See [which charging data an ERE provider shares](https://erevergelijken.eu/en/knowledge-base/ere-laadpaal-privacy-gegevens/) for what to check in any privacy statement.

## Convenience or earnings: how do you choose?

A supplier programme is mainly convenient if you are already a customer, have the right charge point and don’t plan to switch. An independent provider suits you better if you want a free choice of supplier or charge point. Answer these questions first:

1. What do I keep net, including mandatory subscriptions?
2. Does my ERE deal stop if I switch energy contract, and do I then lose the current year?
3. Is my charge point supported, or do I need to buy a different model?
4. When am I paid, and is it money in my account or a credit on my energy bill?
5. How long am I tied in, and what is the notice period?

## Frequently asked questions

Which energy suppliers offer an ERE reward for home charging?

On 23 September 2026 we found a live programme with public terms at Vattenfall (Thuislaadcashback), Zonneplan (ERE charging bonus, with Lekkerladen) and Tibber (via Joulo). Frank Energie confirmed a partnership with Joulo on 16 September 2026; only Joulo states the rate of at most 10% service fee. Essent and Eneco eMobility are preparing a programme; sign-up is not yet possible there.

Does my ERE reward stop if I switch to a different energy supplier?

That depends on the programme. At Vattenfall, Thuislaadcashback stops automatically on the day your energy contract ends, and you receive no cashback for that year. At Tibber, your registration with Joulo continues, but at the standard rate. An independent ERE provider is not tied to your energy contract.

Do I have to be a customer of an energy supplier to get ERE through them?

At Vattenfall, Zonneplan and Tibber, yes: you need an energy contract, and at Vattenfall also a charging subscription of €6.95 a month and an Autel MaxiCharger. Essent says it does not require an energy contract, but it does require an Essent charge point. Independent providers work with any energy supplier, as long as your charge point has an integrated MID meter.

Does ERE via my energy supplier pay less than via an independent provider?

Not by definition. Deductions in supplier programmes range from 10% (Tibber, via Joulo) to 25% (Vattenfall); independent providers typically charge between 12% and 25%. At 3,000 kWh a year and €0.460 per ERE (median of named sources, 18 October 2026), that works out at €344 to €413 net, before any mandatory subscription costs.

What is Vattenfall’s guaranteed minimum worth?

Vattenfall guarantees at least €0.05 per home-charged kWh for 2026, after a 25% deduction. That minimum only kicks in if the ERE price falls below roughly €0.20 per ERE. At the median of named sources, €0.460 per ERE on 18 October 2026, you end up with about €0.115 per kWh (0.33269 × €0.460 × 0.75), so above the minimum.
