Surcharge on the charger price
None: you pay the charge point’s price

The card itself is free; ANWB charges a one-off €2.95 shipping fee. You pay exactly the tariff set by the charge point operator, with no markup; the current tariff per charge point is shown in the ANWB Laadpas app. Abroad a time-based or idle fee may apply (often after 3 to 4 hours). At Tesla Superchargers the (higher) non-Tesla tariff applies. ANWB's business page still lists a €0.69 start fee; the consumer page and FAQ list €0.89. VAT: the business page states prices include VAT and the terms (2023) state all tariffs include VAT.

Worked example

Extra cost per month on top of the charge point’s price at 100 kWh in 8 sessions at public chargers of €0.44 per kWh.

Coverage: Over 1,000,000 charge points in the Netherlands and abroad; per the FAQ the card works at more than 80% of public (fast) chargers abroad. Also Tesla Superchargers without owning a Tesla. ANWB mentions exclusive discounts at Ionity, TotalEnergies, Ubitricity, Equans and Fastned, among others.

Extras

ERE deal: No. ANWB's ERE page explains EREs and refers to registration service providers; it does not describe an ERE service run by ANWB itself.

Home charging: ANWB sells a home charger with MID meter (Zaptec Go 2) including installation. Do not use the card on your own home charger if a tariff is set on it: ANWB is then billed by the charger's operator and passes that cost on to you. No home-charging reimbursement scheme (e.g. for lease drivers) was found on the consumer pages.

Business: ANWB Zakelijk offers the same card or key fob for SMEs, sole traders and employees, with one monthly invoice in the company's name (VAT shown separately). The business page lists €2.95 shipping, €3.99 per month with subscription and a €0.69 start fee without subscription, VAT included.

Contract: Free card: cancel any time with immediate effect in the app. With subscription: one month's notice, starting on the 1st of the following month. Statutory 14-day cooling-off period. The card remains ANWB property; price changes are announced at least 14 days in advance.

Good to know: The terms and conditions found date from 21 September 2023.
