Privacy statement

This privacy statement explains which personal data EREVergelijken.eu processes, why, how long we keep it and what rights you have. We collect as little as possible and never sell data.

What data we process

• Newsletter and alerts - if you sign up, we process your email address, the topics you choose (such as the ERE price alert, a reminder to switch on 1 January 2027, or changes at a provider you follow) and the time you signed up and confirmed. As proof of your consent we also record your IP address and browser type. We use a double opt-in: you first receive a confirmation email and we only send you anything after you confirm.
• Provider reviews - if you write a review, we process your rating, title, text, a display name if you give one, and your email address. We use your email address only to verify the review and to contact you if needed. We never publish your email address, IP address or exact time: the site only shows your display name (or 'anonymous'), your rating, your text and the month it was posted, and only after we have checked the review.
• Payout reports - if you report whether a provider has paid out, we process the provider, the outcome, the period, any comment and, if you enter it, your email address. We only publish a checked, anonymous summary (provider, outcome, month and possibly a shortened comment).
• Inaccuracies and contact - if you report an error or get in touch (through the form or hello@erevergelijken.eu), we process your message, the page it is about and your email address, solely to handle the report or answer your question.
• Tools - the earnings calculator, charger check and choice assistant calculate in your own browser. What you enter there is not sent to our servers.
• Website use - with your consent we measure website use with Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity (heatmaps and session recordings, form input masked) and the effectiveness of ads with Google Ads. Without consent these are not loaded. See our cookie policy.
• Anonymous clicks to a company - if you click a link to the own site of a company we compare, we add that click to a monthly total. We store only the kind (provider, energy supplier, charging card, battery or charger), the company slug, the place of the link and the number of clicks in that month. We do not store an IP address, a browser type, a referrer, a time per click, a cookie or an identifier. This count cannot be linked to a person and does not depend on your cookie consent. We also count, anonymously and without cookies, which AI assistant a visit came from.

With the forms (newsletter, review, payout, inaccuracy and contact) we also record your IP address and browser type to prevent abuse and spam. We never publish this data. The anonymous click count above is separate: for that count we store no IP address and no browser type.

The site hosting keeps technical access logs without IP addresses for 90 days, to count page views. Such a log contains the path, the time, the status, the referrer and the browser type. We store no cookies and we do not build a profile of you. After 90 days the logs are deleted automatically. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in a count of visits.

Legal basis

We send the newsletter and price alerts and measure analytics and advertising based on your consent. We process reviews, payout reports and inaccuracy reports because you send them to us to be published or handled, and based on our legitimate interest in a reliable, up-to-date comparison. Recording IP address and browser type to prevent abuse and as proof of consent falls under our legitimate interest. We keep the anonymous click count on the basis of our legitimate interest: a company can see that visitors arrive via this site, without us processing personal data for that.

How long we keep data

• Unconfirmed newsletter sign-ups are deleted automatically after 30 days.
• Confirmed subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Every email contains an unsubscribe link; when you click it, we delete your subscription immediately and completely.
• Reviews, payout reports and inaccuracy reports, including email address and IP address, are deleted from our database automatically after 400 days. A published, anonymous review or summary stays on the site until you ask us to remove it.
• Email sent to an @erevergelijken.eu address is kept in our archive for up to 90 days, then deleted automatically.
• Technical logs of our form and mail services are kept for up to 30 days.
• Anonymous click totals are kept for 25 months, counted from the month of the click. The database then deletes them automatically.

Where your data is stored and who processes it

We store form submissions, subscriptions and anonymous click totals in an Amazon Web Services database (DynamoDB) in the Ireland region (EU). We send and receive confirmation emails, newsletters and mail through Amazon Simple Email Service, also in the EU. With your consent we use Google for website statistics and ad measurement. These parties only process data on our instructions. We do not sell your data. Outgoing links to a company's own site carry a UTM label (utm_source=erevergelijken), with no affiliate code. We pass on no personal data through them.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter straight away via the link in every email. For other requests, such as removing a published review, use the contact page. You can also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Changes
