Our methodology

How we compare providers

Public sources, a clear ranking and zero paid placements. That is how we keep the comparison fair and verifiable.

Independent

Providers never pay us for a better position.

No sponsorship, no paid placement, no hidden deals. The ranking follows one public method and includes every relevant provider. For each provider we explain why it sits where it does.

What we hold ourselves to

Public sources

We rely on public provider information and market sources, with a stated check date. If a value is missing, we show “Unknown” rather than an estimate.

No paid placement

Providers cannot buy a position. Outgoing links may be referral links, but that does not influence the ranking in any way.

Clear ranking

By default we sort by estimated net earnings. You can sort and filter by what matters to you - the logic is the same for everyone.

Indications, not guarantees

Earnings and eligibility are indications based on public sources. The ERE provider makes the final assessment.

How the ranking is built

  1. 1

We collect public data per provider: commission, payout, contract term and conditions.

  2. 2

We estimate net earnings based on a fixed reference usage and the known commission.

  3. 3

We sort by estimated net earnings by default; providers with an unknown commission are placed last.

  4. 4

You adjust the comparison with filters and sorting that fit your situation.

Sources we use

The comparison and our explanations are based on public sources.

  • Dutch Emissions Authority (NEa) - Register and system for Energy for Transport.
  • Energy for Transport Regulation - Statutory conversion from grid electricity to EREs per kWh.
  • Statistics Netherlands (CBS) - renewable electricity share - National average behind the ERE-per-kWh factor.
  • Public provider terms - Commission, payout and contract term per provider.

Frequently asked questions

What sources is the comparison based on?

We use public sources, such as information from the providers themselves, public market comparisons and the NEa. Each provider carries a check date showing when the source was last reviewed.

How do you determine the ranking?

In the default order our own brand appears first, after which we sort by known commission from low to high, with providers whose commission is unknown placed last. As soon as you set preferences, your input determines the order.

Does a provider pay for a better position?

No, providers don’t pay for placement and the ranking is not for sale. The rules are the same for everyone and explainable.

Why are the earnings indications?

Earnings depend on your consumption, the current price and the provider’s conditions, which we can’t know exactly in advance. That’s why we show ranges and round the figures, rather than falsely precise amounts.

What do you do with missing data?

Values a provider does not publicly state are shown as “Unknown” rather than filled in by us. That keeps it visible where information is missing.

How do you handle corrections?

If you spot an error or outdated value, let us know; we check it against the source and update it with a new check date. Corrections are part of a fair comparison.

Is the site really independent if it’s run by a provider?

The comparison is independent: no one pays for placement and the rules are the same for every provider.
